A Retraction

Hey guys, this is Ian. I wanted to apologize publicly, and officially announce that The ONE21 Music will no longer conitue promotion or coverage of the band The Famine. This based on the fact that we know now that some of the main song writers in the band arnt believers, and vocalist Nick Nowell is an atheist .

This does not mean that we think The Famine‘s music is worse for lack of faith, or that The Famine are horrible dudes. We have a strict set of standards on this website by which we choose what artists we will cover, and at the end of the day we have a responsibility to you, the reader. Our goal is to help you connect your faith in Christ with the music that you love, and with that in mind we cannot cover artists who do not share that heart. This is the same reason we do not cover Zao, David Bazan, or RedCloud.

On a happier note, I will leave you with this increadiable video featuring Propaganda. Watch the whole thing, it is pretty incredible.

I don’t get to spend as much time on this website as I would like, so I actually didn’t notice your coverage of The Famine, but I was glad to read the retraction. Of course, anyone who wants to read about that band can surely find info. elsewhere, but those of us who want to learn about the host of Christian artists out there (many who are unintentionally hidden) do not have many options. In other words, you probably feel differently, but for myself, I’m glad you accidentally covered The Famine so that in the retraction you could prove that this website is focussed on the ministry you’re offering!

We covered them in our new release posts, we had a profile for them, and we also covered their show at SXSW. Thank you for your kind words. The news about Nick actually makes me very sad. The Famine is an immensely talented band that has alot to say, and it is my belief that they could have been a powerhouse for the Kingdom in the metal community. My hope is that we can pray for them and ask God to guide us when selecting the artists we cover on this website

It`s great that you have a fokus (onnect your faith in Christ ) and standars! Congratulation! Thats need courage. But whats going on with redcloud and ZAO?

  4. ian says:

Andi, both ZAO and Redcloud no longer wish to be covered as “Christian” musicians for a number of reasons. We pray for clarity and revival in all of their lives. Thanks for reading
