American Idol Season 10 Top 24 Results

What a week! On Tuesday night we live blogged the performances of the American Idol Season 10 Top 12 Guys and it was a memorable night with more good performances than all of Season 9.  We went into last night’s American Idol Season 10 Top 12 Girls’ performances with a healthy dose of skepticism, but we were pleasantly surprised by some very good and some very entertaining performances.

After Tuesday’s and Wednesday’s night performances, America voted.  The Top 10 vote getters will immediately step into the finals.  Then we are not sure.  Internet chatter says that each judge will select a judge’s favorite to form an American Idol Season 10 Top 13.  Some say the judges will select two wild cards to form a Top 12.  Ryan said last night that the judges would makes their picks tonight, but the Internet is saying American Idol Season 10 will have a Wild Card round next week.

With all of the confusion I have decided to live blog tonight’s show so stick with me to find out what’s what.

At One21music, we focus on Christian musicians performing on American Idol and we believe that four to five believers have a real shot making the Top 12 or 13.  After their performances, we believe that Jacob Lusk, Scott McCreery and Lauren Alaina will be in the voters’ Top 10.  Based on her beautiful delivery of  “Impossible” last night we believe that if Kendra Chantelle is not voted in by America that the judges will add her.  Ashton Jones and Tim Halperin did not deliver on their talents last night, so they will need to hope that the judge’s formed a strong bond with them through weeks and weeks of auditions.

In addition to Jacob Lusk, Scott McCreery and Lauren Alaina, we believe that Pia Toscano, Casey Abrams and James Durbin are shoo-ins for America’s votes.  In addition to Kendra Chantelle; Stefano Langone, Paul MacDonald, Naima Adedapo, Thia Megia and Lauren Turner are getting much Internet love.

So here we go for the the big dump on American Idol Season 10, as we go from an unwieldy mob of 24 to our Season 10 family of 10, 12 or 13.

Surprisingly, the show is 90 minutes tonight.  I know we have 12 musicians to eliminate from American Idol Season 10 and we need to see the ending to J-Lo’s new video, but what else is going to happen? Did Ryan just say 2 hours?  What are we gonna do? Guess I will not go to the gym tonight.

Boy, there are lots of people to introduce.  Ryan just shared that 40 million votes were cast.  After the Top 10 are announced, the judges will pick some Idols to sing for their lives.  So, we get a results show and a performance show! Two shows in one! Awesome!

The first set of results are in as we send the first group of Idols to the safe couch.  But first, a montage of montages.  10 minutes later Ryan dims the lights for Scott McCreery and Robbie Rosen. Okay, I see why this will be 2 hours. They are going really slowly, 30 minutes and no results, until now. Scott McCreery is in the Top 10.  Was there any doubt?  The news is not so good for Robbie, it is back to the stools of purgatory.

We are moving at breakneck speed now.  Clint, Jordan and Jovany are immediately brought into the meat grinder.  Clint looks like he is about to collapse.  Clint and Jordan are sent back to nasty silver stools.  What about Jovany?  Ryan sends him back to the stools as well.

The girls are on the hot seat now. Time to bring Pia Toscano and Lauren Alaina.  Surprise, thinking both of these will make it to the Top 10.  Lauren is in the Top 10. Country music on the couch.  What about Pia?  Yep, she is in.  22 girls just got very nervous.

Tatynisa Wilson and Julie Zorilla are forced to follow this two.  Tatynisa goes back to the stools as does Julie.  I bet Julie gets a chance to sing again for the judges.

Back to the live results. Who will join Scott McCreery, Lauren Alaina and Pia ToscanoKendra Chantelle, Ashton Jones and Karen Rodriguez are standing in the light.  All three are possibilities to go to the couch or go home.  Ashton has not made the Top 10, but the judges are going to give her a chance.  Karen made it to the Top 10 and Kendra will be begging for the judges attention.

Tim Halperin, Casey Abrams and Jacob Lusk are next up.  Jacob looks like he is getting sick.  Jacob makes it to the Top 10 and everyone is happy.  Casey Abrams is also in the Top 10 and Tim is at the mercy of the judges.

Dang, Ryan is flying now. Mia Thegia, Naima Adedapo and Lauren Turner find out if they get one of the 3 remaining spots.  Any of these could go through or none of them.  Naima did not make it and the judges are bringing her back for sure.  Thia makes it into the Top 10 but not Lauren.  America made a mistake with Lauren Turner.

Brett Lowenstern and Paul MacDonald run to center stage. Of course, Paul MacDonald makes it into the Top 10.  Brett’s journey probably ends here.

Pia and Thia are in.  That was fun.

Hayley Reinhart and Rachel Zevita are waiting to find out if they get the last spot. This is a surprise, Hayley Reinhart was voted in.  That is the first shocker of the night.  I like Hayley but cannot believe that America would get her version of “Fallin.”

Stefano Langone and James Durbin are up next.  Rocker or heart throb? James Durbin gets the final guys spot.

Now it is time for the rest to beg for their survival.  The guys look pretty right but to exclude Kendra Chantelle, Naime Adedapo and Lauren Turner is a mistake.

Who get to sing for the judges?  Six people are going to sing for a second chance, three boys and three girls.  First choice to sing is Ashton Jones and she is singing “And I’m Telling You”.  How appropriate for this moment.   Ashton gives it the full diva treatment.  She is not Jennifer Hudson but she does nothing to hurt herself.  That puts a little pressure on the others.

Stefano Langone is singing “I Need You Now”.  Stefano does not have a powerful voice but he does have beautiful tone. Uh oh, this is going to be hard.  Stefano was awesome singing this gospel song of redemption by Smokie Norful.  That performance was as powerful as anything we have seen this week.

Next up is Kendra Chantelle.  This is appropriate, she deserves another chance. She is singing “Georgia on My Mind” but starts in a weird place.  She started low and slow but she finished big and crazy.  Nobody is giving up.

Jovany Boreto gets another chance?  He is singing “Angel” in Spanish and English.  Every one of these contestants are doing really well.  Jovany hits all of his big notes with perfect pitch.

Only two more chances left after the break.  So far, Stefano Langone is the clear leader.

Naima Adedapo gets the last girl’s slots, meaning Lauren Turner is left behind.  What a shame.  Naima will sing “For All We Know.”  I think the nerves are getting to Naima as her pitch is wavering all over the stage.  She hits some big notes but this is probably the weakest of the 3 girl’s performances.

The final wild card shot goes to Robbie Rosen, who will sing “Sorry Seems To Be The Hardest Word.”  Robbie is continuing the guy’s run of beautiful singing.  That was perfect but not very exciting.

Stefano Langone continues for sure and they must pick a girl it will be Kendra Chantelle.

It is time to reveal who got saved by the judges……after the break.  Aaagh!  3 minutes to find out who has survived!  Randy picks Ashton Jones. Jennifer picks Stefano Langone, as he should.  Steven Tyler picks Naima Adedapo.  I am really surprised Kendra Chantelle was left behind.

  2. Jim Richardson says:

I agree..all 3 of those girls you mentioned should be ahead of Haley and Karen. I liked Stefano a little better than Paul but no beef with it.

  3. Jim Richardson says:

I never heard that song that Stefano sang, but he has to make it now..what a great song!! He might have to be added to the list of Christians to choose that when he was singing for his life.

  4. Jim Richardson says:

I’m praying for Stefano and Kendra right now..

  5. Jim Richardson says:

Did you have the Christians in bold? I’m hoping Stefano is too.

  6. I’m happy to find my way back to this site, since this is the first time I’ve really cared about American Idol since Danny Gokey was on it! I think this is an amazing group of talented kids. I was so, so happy Stefano made the wild card. Thanks for covering this again. I’ll definitely be back!

  7. chuck says:

Welcome back Cindy. Jim, I am looking for info on Stefano’s faith but I cannot find anything. His father is in a Christian rock band and he has a few gospel songs on youtube but that is all I can find.
