I was recording a radio show with Faith Radio’s Bob Crittenden this morning. Bob was asking me about Skylar Laine‘s faith and turned me onto her American Idol Season 11 interview. So I began to investigate and sure enough he was right.
In the interview Skylar Laine was asked, “What is your proudest moment outside of American Idol?” Her response was, “Accepting Christ and getting the legacy award at school.” She also said her favorite quote was John 14:6. “Jesus said to him, I am the way, and the truth, and the life; no one comes to the Father but through Me.”
Christian musician Skylar Laine is our resident country singer who has amazed every week with her commanding stage presence and huge vocal prowess. We currently rank Skylar Laine number three in our American Idol Season 11 Top 7 Power Rankings. Skylar has been gaining momentum over the past two weeks, starting with her powerful country version of “Wind Beneath My Wings” and it continued last night with her pitch perfect delivery of “Don’t You Know How Much I Loved You”.
Skylar Laine has played up her country roots and many of her vidoes have showed her deer hunting and off roading. However, there is another side to this Mississippi girl. When she was 7, 8, and 9 years old, she went on two national Broadway tours. The first tour was Annie playing Molly. The second was Les Miserables in which she played Young Cosette and Young Eponine. So despite her muddy boots and the deer head in her room, Skylar Laine has had the opportunity to travel to almost every state in the US and to Canada, China, and Korea performing in these shows.
So I am sorry I am so late to discover Skylar’s faith, but we believe that Skylar Laine will go far into American Idol Season 11 and my be a contender for the Top 2. Thank you the heads-up Bob. If any of you know anything about the faith backgrounds of the other performers, please let me know.
