Mosquito Fleet came together during the 2008 - 2009 academic year at Indiana Wesleyan University. Mosquito Fleet refers to a sailboat fleet of British civilians that heroically fought to rescue 300,000 members of the Allied troops during WWII.

Josh Carrols (percussion/background vocal) and Joel Yoshonis (lead vocals/rhythm electric guitar/acoustic guitar/Rhodes piano, respectively) formed the first incarnation of Mosquito Fleet after they decided they had seen enough of performing solo at open mic nights and local coffee shops.  Shortly thereafter guitarist, Alex Mrakovich, joined and with a temporary bass guitarist, and won the university's Battle of the Bands along the way and then a spot as the guest band on IWU's Friday Night Live.

Mosquito Fleet's self-titled debut EP is made up of Via Salutis, rearranged from the original song/title Oxygen, Times Are Changing and Back and Forth. During the supporting tour bassist Phil Rode joined as a full time member.

After the 2010 release of their debut full length CD, All Those Who Wander Are Not Lost, Mosquito Fleet embarked on a money losing tour filled with canceled shows and mechanical breakdowns that caused Mosquito Fleet to question their path.  Ultimately, Mosquito Fleet came to the following decision:

"because we believe that to lose money and forfeit fame for the sake of purity in art and in Truth is well worth the cost, because we believe in the sacredness of music as made so by its Designer, because we believe in Something that is worth an unlimited audience experiencing, we have chosen to do the following for the release of the Swings & Cloves EP"
